Madeline Chadwick handbag is created by Madeline herself, from scratch. She designs the bags; creates the patterns; sources materials; cuts each piece by hand; designs the linings and screen prints them; and, finally, constructs them with her own two hands. Her designs are inspired by her love of music and art. My job as the Art Director was to collaborate with Madeline to create a simple yet sophisticated lookbook to be used as a tool to hand out to potential buyers.

SURFAID INTERNATIONAL

Quiksilver Foundation in association with Surfaid International came to Salty Design Foundry needing an identity, web advertising, and print collateral for the launch of their GET ON BOARD campaign to help benefit the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of the Mentawai and Nias people through education programs involving nutrition, hygiene and disease prevention. SurfAid has also taught Emergency Preparedness programs and provided disaster response to help prepare for and recover from devastating earthquakes and tsunamis.

QUIKSILVER BOARDSHORT HANG TAGS

This is a series of 4 signature board short hang tag designs featuring the worlds best surfers. Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds, Craig Anderson and Jeremy Flores. It was designed as a 4 page booklet attached to the specific team riders board shorts emphasizing the technical features. Being shown here are all 4 covers, along with every page from the Dane Reynolds tag.

The concept for this photo shoot was to match the personality of the watches and eyewear with the specific background used in the photo. Keeping in mind what individual we were marketing these products toward.

These photos were used in the 2011 Quiksilver watches/eyewear catalogs, publication advertising and POP.

QUIKSILVER LIFESTYLE PHOTO SHOOT

Salty Design Foundry was recently contracted by Quiksilver to art direct another boys lifestyle photo shoot for the Fall 2012 clothing line. We decided on the location of Crescent Bay in Laguna Beach for the beautiful California coast scenery. Fall in California is gorgeous with clear sunny days but this day happened to be 70 degrees too so it was perfect.

There is no shame in my game and I have not problem “doing it all” to make for a great outcome. It’s not just art directing, we are the producer, stylist, photo editor and the photographers assistant all in one. We have a great time working on these projects and really enjoy trying to push the shoots to another level each season. Kanoa Igarashi and John Mel are the model team riders we use for almost all the shoots and they are always a pleasure to work with.

QUIKSILVER ROXY SKATEBOARD CATALOG

JBL QUIKSILVER

Quiksilver and JBL recently collaborated on the design of the all new headphones, docking station and micro speaker. Salty Design Foundry was asked to design a digital rotating web banner for each product.
